In May, Chanel launches Les Eaux De Chanel, a new line of three Eaux de Toilette (Paris-Deauville, Paris-Biarritz, Paris-Venise) named in honour of the travels of Gabriel ‘Coco’ Chanel in the early 20th century.

This trio of new perfumes deliver “a sense of freshness that is as emotional as the memory of a journey” as they hark back to the glamour of travel in its earliest days, and the fashionable cities of Europe in the early 1900’s. These fragrances have all been created by Chanel head perfumer Olivier Polge.

“I don’t like saying unisex, it’s just that gender isn’t specified,” says Polge, head perfumer at Chanel since 2013, when he succeeded his father.

Meet the three fragrances below:

It’s 1920. For Gabrielle Chanel, Venice is love at first sight and a fresh start. Deeply shocked by the death of her beloved Boy Capel, she lets herself be roused by the bustle of this contrasting city, where the personalities and influentials of the entire world cavort. The Byzantine and Baroque art treasures that she discovered here, shape her eye and her taste and become one of the main sources of inspiration of her style.

Paris – Venise is a fresh oriental fragrance. It includes notes of neroli in combination with ambery accords of vanilla and tonia.

In 1915. Gabrielle Chanel discovered Biarritz. This haven of peace by the sea immediately captivates with its simultaneously sporty and sophisticated atmosphere.
She chooses this place to open her first couture house in a villa opposite the casino: the elegant yet comfortable lines attract an international clientele and mark the birth of CHANEL. PARIS-BIARRITZ captures the dynamism and freedom of this founding city like a breath of fresh air.

Paris – Biarritz is described an exceptionally fresh and vivacious scent inspired by the energy of the Basque coast. The fragrance contains sparkling fruity notes of Sicilian tangerine and lily of the valley.

1913. Gabrielle Chanel opens her first fashion boutique in Deauville. The seaside resort is a haven for elegant women, the first to wear wide-brimmed hats and dresses inspired by the masculine wardrobe. PARIS-DEAUVILLE transmits this rural charm in green nuances to the heart of a fragrance that seems like fresh, clear air.

Paris – Deauville set itself out as an aromatic-citrusy fragrance that possesses “lively, natural, radiant freshness” inspired by the Normandy coast. Aromatic green basil notes are combined with Sicilian orange.

All three fragrances are available in 125 ml Eau de Toilette. Launching May 2018 in Chanel boutiques and with selected luxury retailers around the world.
