Godiva Chocolatier has collaborated with travel retailer DFS to mount a special 90th Anniversary event at San Francisco International Airport featuring the work of renowned Belgian artist Oli-B. A similar event will be staged at Los Angeles Airport in August.

Godiva was founded in the heart of the Belgian capital Brussels in 1926 and is marking its 90th anniversary with a series of celebrations throughout this year, including the launch of a limited edition gift box ‘Collection Anniversaire’ containing nine of its most legendary chocolate and praline creations.

The artist who was chosen to illuminate the famous chocolatier’s anniversary year with his bright colourful designs for gift boxes, displays and merchandising items is celebrated Belgian-born illustrator Oli-B.

Oli-B flew to San Francisco where, on Saturday 28th May, he completed an exclusive work of art commissioned by Godiva which, with its firework-like brilliance and bright colours against a luxurious gold backdrop, symbolises the brand’s timeless values of quality and refinement as well as its zest for originality and innovation.

Brush in hand and watched by an attentive crowd of passing travellers, Oli-B put the finishing touches to his unique illustration. His ‘canvas’ was a set of 36 gold-coloured Godiva gift boxes mounted in a two-metre frame in a specially decorated zone in the airside travel retail shop at San Francisco International Terminal.

Travellers were invited to have their photo taken with Oli-B against his artwork and surrounded by display units filled with fabulous Godiva chocolates. The artist signed commemorative greeting cards and presented some lucky travellers with mini-ballotins of Godiva chocolates.

A complimentary Oli-B rainbow-coloured rucksack was offered as a free gift to each customer who spent over US$85 on Godiva products.

The Godiva 90th Anniversary promotion will move to Los Angeles International Airport in time for a special event on 13th August at which Oli-B will also be present.
