Highland Park’s new packaging celebrates their unique Orkney provenance—the key to the whisky’s multi-award-winning flavour.

If you’ve ever visited the Highland Park distillery in Kirkwall, you’ll know that Orkney’s a special place. Located far out in the North Sea, with a unique microclimate that keeps it temperate (and bracingly blustery) all year round, it’s something of a world apart. Here, the inspiring natural environment and longstanding creative culture set the stage for a truly unique way of life—and a truly unique whisky.

In fact, Highland Park has always been a product of Orkney’s crafty mindset and one-of-a-kind environment. Today, as ever, it gets its distinctive, subtly smoky flavour from the local peat they use to smoke their malts—which, thanks to the windy conditions in Orkney, is infused with aromatic heather rather than woody tree roots.

Though they’re fiercely protective of this flavour (and all the awards it’s won them over the years) they’re also proud of Orkney heritage, and all the ways it makes them truly, but naturally different from every other whisky out there. That’s why, with the new packaging designs for their core and travel exclusive ranges, they’re celebrating their Orkney heritage in every detail, from the brighter colour scheme—which reflects Orkney’s incredible light—to the heather-flecked labels, which pay tribute to the distinctive flavour of the local peat.
