Shoppers visiting JR/Duty Free stores in Australia’s international airports will have the opportunity to purchase special bottles of 100 proof Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Travellers’ Exclusive. This Jack Daniel’s Australia travel retail exclusive is from the famed Tennessee Distillery’s Personal Collection Series.
Three unique barrels were selected through a close partnership between the JR/Duty Free team and the staff of the Jack Daniel Distillery – led by Assistant Master Distiller, Chris Fletcher. Each of these barrels provide a unique flavour experience – light, sweet and soft; medium, creamy and balanced; and big, bold and robust – taking consumers on a remarkable flavour journey. They will be available individually or also as a limited set, along with a very special bottle cradle that was created as part of the project.
Brown-Forman and the JR/Duty Free team worked with a local Australian artisan to create 20 very special bottle cradles designed to hold a bottle of Jack Daniel’s from each of the three selected barrels. These bespoke bottle cradles were crafted out of the barrel staves of the personal collection barrels. The barrels provided enough wood to craft just 20 cradles, meaning these one-of-a-kind collector’s item will be available in JR/Duty Free stores on a first-come, first-served basis. Each cradle is hand-numbered 1 to 20, and consumers who purchase them will also receive a certificate of authenticity direct from Lynchburg, TN.

The 750 ml bottles of the special Jack Daniel’s from the selected barrels will be available beginning this month in the JR/Duty Free stores in the following international airports: Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin and Perth. They will also be sold at the JR/Duty Free store on Swanston Street in Melbourne.
Assistant Master Distiller Chris Fletcher’s tasting notes of the special JR/Duty Free Jack Daniel’s barrels:
Barrel 17-3944 – soft/sweet; Classic Jack Daniel’s with soft fruits and vanilla aroma that is rounded perfectly with toasted oak. Big on entry with bold flavors but finishes soft and pleasant. Very versatile whiskey!
Barrel 17-3947 – creamy/balanced; Soft caramel and baking spices create a warm and filling mouth-feel. Cooked apple with butterscotch and oak tannins balance from beginning to end with a soft and subtle spice that lingers.
Barrel 17-3953 – bold/robust; Rich, dry oak along with sweet vanilla setup this dark and spicy whiskey. Through the palette, hints of brown sugar complement charred oak and a slight smokiness. The finish begins with dry oak tannin yet turns soft and sweet with a long caramel ending.
