A multi-sensory Johnnie Walker Blue Label boutique has opened in the Terminal 2 Departures Concourse of Taoyuan Airport, Taipei.
One of only two in the world, it offers a unique and superior travel retail shopping experience for those passing through the airport, and enables travellers to fully immerse themselves in the heritage and rarity of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
On first entering, travellers will experience a feast for the senses as the scents of honey and citrus fruits fill the air and brand ambassadors guide them through the flavours on a tasting journey of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.
The boutique aims to introduce travellers to the trinity of rare elements that make up Johnnie Walker Blue Label: rare casks, rare craftsmanship and its distinctively rare character.
The story of the rare casks is told on a striking wall of oak barrels. These explain how Johnnie Walker has the largest reserves of Scotch Whisky in the world but only 1 in 10,000 of these casks drawn from the four corners of Scotland contain whiskies of sufficient character to produce the remarkably smooth signature taste.
The rare craftsmanship of Johnnie Walker Blue Label is reflected on the second wall. It tells the story of the unbroken lineage of master blenders which stretches back almost 200 years. It explains how today’s master blender hand-selects whiskies from our vast reserve drawn from the four corners of Scotland and blends to create a whisky of tremendous depth, power and intensity.
The blend’s rare character is highlighted through a video animation at the centre of the installation. It describes how Johnnie Walker Blue Label is produced in strictly limited quantities and how it evokes the authentic, powerful character and flavour of a traditional 19th century blend – 1867 Old Highland Whisky.
Visitors can take away a special memento of their travels – any bottle purchased in the adjacent travel retail unit can be engraved with a personal message, free of charge.
The store officially opened for business in March and it will welcome global travellers in the Terminal 2 Departures at Taoyuan Airport until the end of June 2015.
