Italian fashion brand Liu Jo has been growing at a fast rate across Europe and now has plans for shops at airports around the world.
The Italian brand was founded in 1995 as the brainchild of brothers Marco and Vannis Marchi, Liu Jo now sells in 45 countries and on 3 continents – Europe, Africa and Asia – with 320 own-brand stores and representation in over 5,500 multi-brand stores across the world. Model Dree Hemingway is the face of the brand’s campaigns this year.
Liu Jo’s growth shows no signs of abating. Not only with new openings, as in the case of the three new stores in Paris that will be opening in Autumn 2015, and not only new collection ranges, such as the brand new Les Cocktail – for special occasions – and the leather accessories range Sac Rouge: now, Liu Jo is taking on the travel retail world too.
Liu Jo first approached this market in early 2015 and has invested a lot of effort and resource. The Italian brand will have its own trade stand at the forthcoming TFWA Tax Free World Association Fair in Cannes, considered the Duty Free and Travel Retail industry’s most important business event and an essential showcase for any brand in this market.
Liu Jo’s presence in travel locations is growing: the company has own-brand stores in Venice and Rome Fiumicino airports; shops-in-shops in the airports of Bergamo (in partnership with Dufry) and Lisbon (in partnership with Gateleven); and dedicated areas in the airports of Zurich (in partnership with Dufry), Brussels (in partnership with IDF) and in the main German airports, in partnership with Heinemann and Eurotrade. A dedicated business unit has been set up within the company.
At this first stage of development, the brand is focussing its attention (in terms of locations) on the airports of those countries where brand awareness is already very strong but in the near future its goal is to strengthen agreements with players in the Middle East (Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports) as well as in Asia.
For the time being, the travel retail stores and stockists will sell Liu Jo Accessories and the Fragrances and Eyewear licences.
