Moët Hennessy Travel Retail, in partnership with Avolta, has unveiled the first-ever ® travel retail activation, launching as an exclusive avant-première at Madrid Airport Terminal 4 SAT.

Running from 29 July through the end of September, the pop-up celebrates the renewed 10-year global partnership between Moët & Chandon and Formula 1®, inviting travellers to experience the Maison’s enduring association with victory, celebration and shared emotion through an immersive retail experience.

The activation marks a significant milestone for both partners, bringing one of the world’s most iconic sporting collaborations into travel retail. Timed to drive visibility ahead of the Formula 1® Grand Prix in Madrid from 11–13 September, the experience reinforces Moët & Chandon’s longstanding place at the heart of some of the sport’s most memorable podium celebrations while creating a new touchpoint for international travellers.

Moët & Chandon’s relationship with Formula 1 dates back to 1950 when Juan Manuel Fangio celebrated his French Grand Prix victory with a toast hosted by Paul Chandon-Moët and Count Frédéric Chandon de Briailles.

Developed in collaboration with Avolta, this exclusive visibility of over 20m2 reflects a shared ambition to elevate the airport retail journey  through premium brand experiences. The pop-up transforms the airport environment into a destination where travellers can engage with Moët & Chandon’s heritage through storytelling, celebration and experiential retail.

At the centre of the experience is a retail space which brings to life the exhilaration of Formula 1® through several interactive elements, including a replica Formula 1® photo podium to recreate the iconic winner’s celebration. A range of grooming services will be offered by sales assistants dressed in race suits inspired by Formula 1® drivers and a sampling bar will give shoppers the chance to enjoy a Moët & Chandon tasting experience.

The exclusive Jeroboam from Spain 1996, signed by Schumacher, Alesi, Villeneuve, echoing the Champagne spray – one of sport’s most enduring images – serves as the visual centrepiece of the space. A curated display of vintage photography showcases iconic podium celebrations from Madrid’s Formula 1® history while two immersive pillars with LED screens showcase dynamic Formula 1® footage, creating a high-octane atmosphere.

Nicolas Gilardenghi, President Global Travel Retail, Moët Hennessy Travel Retail, commented: “Moët & Chandon’s partnership with Formula 1® is one of the most iconic and recognisable collaboration in global sport. Bringing this legendary heritage into travel retail allows us to craft immersive experiences that invite travellers to truly connect with the Maison on an emotional level. This activation, partnering with Avolta reflects our ambition to transform airports into destinations where culture, storytelling and elevated retail experiences come together.”

David de Miguel, Global Head of Liquor, Avolta, added: “At Avolta, we want travel retail to inspire discovery and give travellers experiences that are worth stopping for. Our collaboration with Moët Hennessy Travel Retail at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport is a strong example of how strategic partnerships, experiential retail and storytelling can bring brands to life in the travel environment. Hosting the first Moët & Chandon Formula 1® travel retail activation reflects our ambition to create distinctive experiences around globally recognised brands, while connecting with Madrid’s growing role in the international Formula 1® calendar.”
