The first Penfolds in-airport concept opens at the Adelaide Airport’s new retail and dining precinct.
Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen, in partnership with Emirates Leisure Retail, started operations at Adelaide Airport on Wednesday, 26 February 2020. Located in the new retail and dining precinct within Adelaide Airport’s domestic and international terminal, Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen will offer travellers a premium food and wine experience.
The first Penfolds in-airport concept of its kind globally, the architecturally curated space delivers a distinctive sophisticated aesthetic and brings a taste of Magill Estate to travellers on the go. This complements the experiences on offer at the existing cellar doors of South Australia’s best-known vineyards, Magill Estate and Barossa Valley.
Penfolds Wine Bar and Kitchen will offer a wide range of wines for travellers to purchase and take with them on their journey – from the coveted Cellar Reserve and Penfolds Collection to selections from the Max’s and Koonunga Hill tiers. A number of special bottlings will also be featured including Lot. 518 Spirited Wine with Baijiu, Penfolds x Thiénot Champagne and Special Bin 111A Clare Valley Barossa Valley Shiraz. The complementary food menu was carefully crafted using only the very best South Australian produce to complement Penfolds wines and ‘House Style’ – a philosophy upheld for 175 years.
Penfolds bottle display to guide travellers in their purchase decision
Commenting on the opening of this new concept, Simon Carter, General Manager, Global Travel Retail, Treasury Wine Estates, said “We are honoured to launch Penfolds Wine Bar & Kitchen at Adelaide Airport, the first Penfolds in-airport concept of its kind globally. Adelaide is Penfolds home state and it makes perfect sense to extend the experience from our cellar doors to the airport. I believe this will delight both local and international guests transiting through the airport, to have Penfolds accompany them on their journey. Travellers can shop Penfolds extensive range of red and white wines, even special bottlings”.
With Adelaide Airport as Australia’s fastest growing airport for international passenger numbers, Penfolds had also unveiled a festive gondola in Adelaide Airport earlier this year for the recent Chinese New Year celebrations. Travelers could print a message on a Penfolds ribbon and attach it on their bottles, capturing the gifting and personalization opportunity to drive luxury sales and grow spend per customer.
