At the launch of its Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Collection, Porsche Design presented another highlight of New York Fashion Week: the Agnodice. The new women’s handbag will arrive in Porsche Design Stores worldwide in November, directly from the catwalk. What’s more, customers get the chance to personalise their style via different options for personalisation mean that the showpiece from Porsche Design can be completely adapted to the customer’s taste.

The puristic design of the Agnodice from Porsche Design is reminiscent of a traditional doctor’s bag and was inspired by the Greek physician Agnodike, after whom the handbag is named. Agnodike lived in the third century BC and was the first female physician in Ancient Greece. At first she was only able to practice her skills in secret or disguised in men’s clothing, as women and slaves were prohibited from practising medicine. Following the intervention of her patients, some of whom were women of high standing, Agnodike received official permission to practice and the law was overturned.

One particular highlight of the Agnodice is that the handbag can be customised to suit personal taste. In addition to the elegant black version, ten different leathers are available in total, as well as four different options for the metal fittings and a choice of two different colours for the lining, all of which can be individually combined. The result is a fully personalised It-bag.

The following leathers are available: Aloe (green), Cenere (grey), Champagne (beige), Dahlia (purple), Fumo (dark grey), Lamb (white), Lion (brown), Mango (orange), Serpentine (dark green) and Truffle (dark brown). The lining is available in black or red and the classic choices of metal fitting are gold, rosé gold or silver, as well as black.

Like every handbag from Porsche Design, the new Agnodice is made with devotion by experienced craftsmen in Florence (Italy) using knowledge that has been passed down through the generations. The choice of materials is also typically Porsche Design. The women’s handbags from the luxury brand are made entirely of vegetable-tanned leather and finished with timeless fittings made from metal.

The Agnodice from Porsche Design is available from mid-November 2014 in all Porsche Design Stores and from the official online store of the luxury brand.
