Ian Macleod Distillers is to introduce the second release in its GTR-exclusive Rosebank Vintage Series, coinciding with this summer’s long-awaited return to distilling at Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk, after a 30-year break in production.
The extremely rare bottling of Rosebank Vintage 1990 32 Years Old launches in July in partnership with three leading regional retailers: World Duty Free Group in Europe and China Duty Free Group and Sunrise in Asia.
With only 350 bottles available worldwide, Rosebank Vintage 1990 32 Years Old (ABV 47.8% / 70cl / regional RRPs £3,900 & US$4,750) is the second of five expressions in the Rosebank Vintage Series to be released. The remaining three will be released over the next seven years.
Rosebank Vintage 1990 32 Years Old has been chosen exclusively for the global traveller as a classic example of the distillery’s peerless smooth character. Housed in a red wooden cylinder with copper detailing, the beautiful, ornate bottle has a stunning engraved rose detail and is accompanied by an authenticity certificate. Renowned as ‘The King of the Lowlands’, Rosebank is the gold standard for the Lowland Single Malt category.
The unique combination of triple distillation and worm tub condensers gives the Rosebank spirit its exceptional fruity, floral style. The second edition Vintage 1990 32 Years Old is an elegant and characterful limited release, with aromas of Victoria sponge, pineapple and caramelised pecans. Silky and juicy with citrus, peach and butter icing on the palate and a delicate finish of crisp fruity notes, gentle spice, toffee and oak.
Noble & Co’s Whisky Intelligence Report released in June 2023 (assessing secondary market sales Jan to Apr ‘23) highlighted that Rosebank was ranked the No.1 / highest single malt by average price per bottle of any single malt whisky. In addition, Rosebank was named the world’s second most collectable whisky from an investment appreciation perspective by Rare Whisky 101, a leading whisky sales analyst.
Ian Macleod Distillers’ Travel Retail Director, William Ovens says: “We are delighted to partner with three of the world’s leading Travel Retail operators to launch this limited-edition and exclusive Rosebank Vintage, which will thereafter be available to a very limited number of other luxury retailers. With distillation under Ian Macleod Distillers starting this summer and Rosebank Distillery opening to the public in 2024, it is a very exciting time for the brand.”
Ian Macleod Distillers acquired the Rosebank Distillery and the remaining stocks in October 2017 and is soon to reopen the distillery on the original site. In 2020 GTR was selected as the channel to re-launch Rosebank Lowland Single Malt Whisky under Ian Macleod Distillers’ ownership.
