The Lakes Distillery have launched the latest product in its global travel retail range – The Lakes Ascent single malt whisky. The new whisky will be unveiled during TFWA Cannes and marks the addition of another luxury whisky to the brand’s global travel retail exclusive portfolio.

Elevated through the alchemy of élevage – The Lakes’s pioneering art of flavour development – The Lakes Ascent offers drinkers an unexplored and intriguing palate. Weaving through a symphony of European and American oak, the character is shaped by a diverse arrange of sherry, red wine, and bourbon casks, culminating in the finest first-fill Oloroso sherry. Dark, rich and deeply complex, it unveils a melody of fragrant fruit and lingering spice, delicately wrapped in a decadently aged bouquet.

This new addition to the portfolio highlights the continued commitment of The Lakes to grow in the global travel retail channel and attract an audience of international discerning drinkers; particularly those looking to discover something a little different from the single malts they usually find in these spaces. The launch follows the release of The Lakes Boundless single malt whisky in 2024 which won a Gold medal at the International Spirits Challenge 2025, as well as a Silver medal (90 points) at the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2025. Boundless is now listed in Avolta.

Aroma

Fragrant figs and succulent dates mingle with tropical pineapple. A melody of candied citrus peel and zesty orange unfolds, enveloped in the warm embrace of sweet spices, comforting leather, and the creamy allure of vanilla beans.

Palate

Dark, delicious and rich. The caramel sweetness of dates and the vibrant tang of orange peel balance beautifully with deeply complex undertones and subtle notes of tobacco.

Finish

An indulgent symphony of rich dried fruits and warm, lingering spices.
