Elevating the whisky shopping experience for travellers at Tokyo Narita International Airport Terminal 1, the launch of its new immersive Whisky Emporium, in partnership with leading Japanese duty-free retailer NAA Retailing Corporation. This exciting shop-in-shop offers travellers a premium, interactive space to explore the DEWAR’S award-winning blended Scotch whisky range, alongside three of its prized single malts: ABERFELDY, ROYAL BRACKLA and AULTMORE.
Designed to reflect the excellence and innovation in the Bacardi whisky portfolio, the Whisky Emporium provides a welcoming environment for travellers to discover the rich heritage and exceptional craftsmanship in the brands. A tasting bar and gifting area serves as a key highlight, where whisky experts guide visitors through a curated selection of luxurious whiskies including ABERFELDY 45YO LIMITED EDITION, the oldest release from the distillery to date, and ABERFELDY 25YO 125th ANNIVERSARY EDITION.
An interactive digital screen enhances the experience, offering deeper insights into each whisky’s story and craftsmanship. Striking, illuminated display cabinets showcase the exceptional selection, with detailed tasting notes accompanying each bottle. Above, premium expressions are beautifully presented against evocative photography and illustrations that bring the distinct character of each distillery to life.
Among the exclusive offerings at the Whisky Emporium are the recently launched DEWAR’S DOUBLE DOUBLE 21 YEAR OLD STONE TOASTED expressions, finished in a Magma stone toasted American oak cask and French oak cask. Whisky connoisseurs will also find the highly collectible DEWAR’S DOUBLE DOUBLE 37 YEAR OLD, a rare, blended malt finished in Oloroso sherry casks from the Aultmore distillery.
The launch of the Whisky Emporium at Narita comes at a pivotal time for the whisky category. The prestige-plus segment in the total whisky category —priced above $200—is projected to be the fastest-growing, with an estimated 18.5% CAGR between 2023-2028, according to IWSR 2024. This trend highlights the growing demand for premium offerings among discerning travellers, particularly in whisky-enthusiastic markets like Japan.
The collaboration between Bacardi Global Travel Retail and FaSoLa reflects a shared commitment to exceptional retail experiences. With NAA Retailing Corporation operating over 80 duty-free and tax-free stores at Japan’s main international gateway, and the Bacardi whisky portfolio’s reputation for quality and innovation, this partnership ensures a memorable and immersive whisky shopping experience at Narita.
“We are thrilled to bring this new Whisky Emporium to Tokyo Narita, one of the world’s busiest travel hubs,” said Sam Pickard, AMEA Regional Director, Bacardi Global Travel Retail. “With passenger numbers surging by 22% last year and Japan ranking as the seventh-largest whisky market globally, Narita is the ideal location for our latest whisky experience. This partnership with NAA Retailing Corporation allows us to engage whisky lovers in an exciting and meaningful way, offering them access to our premium portfolio while celebrating the artistry behind DEWAR’S and our sublime range of single malts.”
