Max Factor to create the official beauty look for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Paris this year.
If there’s one thing you can be sure of once autumn arrives it’s that – not long after the leaves turn orange and fall to the ground, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will take over your Instagram feed like no other event ever quite manages to. And this year, it will be with the partnership of Max Factor, which is pairing with the lingerie brand to create the official beauty look for the show. One Victoria’s Secret Angel particularly excited by this news is Stella Maxwell, who was named Max Factor global brand ambassador earlier this month (fellow Angel Candice Swanepoel is also an ambassador), having gained her Angel wings last year.
“As Max Factor’s newest ambassador and a Victoria’s Secret Angel, I’m super excited about this partnership. Both brands empower and transform women to capture their true essence and beauty. I’m grateful to be a part of that journey and can’t wait to see what beauty looks the Max Factor make-up team brings backstage,” she told us. “It’s an honour to be a spokesmodel for a brand that has such a rich heritage defined by artistry and expertise. I’ve always loved experimenting with make-up, I remember being a young girl and stealing Max Factor products from my older sister.”
The precise look for the show remains under wraps, but one thing that is certain is that lashes will play a major part – the Max Factor False Lash Effect Epic has been named the “official mascara” of the night. The show itself will take place in Paris later this year, but the Angels are already in preparation mode – and wouldn’t you be too, if you were going to be seen in your underwear by millions?
“Being an Angel means being prepared all of the time! Of course, as the show gets closer and closer, we all have to up our training and be a bit stricter with our routines. You know everyone will be watching, so it’s a good idea to start putting in the extra effort sooner rather than later. Personally, I do a combination of cardio work and meditation as I need to be in top physical condition with a clear head to focus,” Maxwell explained, revealing that her ultimate beauty advice is to “be confident in who you are and how you look by embracing your individuality. Treat your body with love and care. Do whatever it is that makes you feel beautiful, whether that’s a few lashings of mascara before leaving the house or going to a yoga class.”
If past years are anything to go by there will be a lot of big hair, a lot of bronzer and a lot of glitter – rumours of a fully immersive glitter booth backstage at past shows are not unfounded. Months of strict exercise regimes and diets will finally come to a head for the biggest night on the lingerie world calendar, and the backstage area is truly a sight to behold.
“My favourite thing about being backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Show is the energy. The atmosphere backstage is truly electric,” Maxwell said. “There is so much anticipation about what’s going to happen next or what’s just happened. And seeing all the girls transform is completely magical – that excitement and energy follows us right out onto the catwalk, which is why there’s always such a buzz in the air.”
