A tribute to Yves Saint Laurent’s good luck talisman in an ambery spicy scent, preciously sulfurous.
THE OLFACTION
A fetish amber for a fetish talisman, CŒUR transmutes the couturier’s iconic heart into a precious new scented icon. A subversive clash, warm yet metallic, vibrant yet boldly sensual, captured by Daniela Andrier.
“The carnal, captivating aura of the amber accord,” as the perfumer defines it, embodies the talisman’s provocative message of love. In a radical move, its traditionally suave, warm character is reinvented for Yves Saint Laurent Beauty in a daring hot-and-cold duality. Piercing its resinous depth with the icy precision of aldehydes, Daniela Andrier creates a verticality and a metallic glint unknown to classical amber structures. This olfactory tension finds its inspiration in the jewel itself, where the glow of the red amber echoes the vibrant ruby stones, while the cold aldehydes capture the glint of the metallic structure.
For this smoldering heart, precious orris butter offers powdery, buttery and violet facets. Distilled from noble Iris pallida, this rare treasure requires a demanding three-year journey from planting to harvest to unleash its most coveted signature. Empowered by a fresh Ourika Lavender Scent Trek™, another Moroccan botanical jewel crafted for YSL.
An incisive, genderless signature that breaks away from convention—intense, subversive, and quintessentially Saint Laurent.
THE INSPIRATION
A jewel in “real fake diamonds and rubies” created by a French jeweler for M. Saint Laurent, the iconic CŒUR fétiche was present from the beginning, when the fashion house officially opened at 30 bis rue Spontini on December 4, 1961. Each season, the heart would be delivered the day before the show, to be worn by the couturier’s favorite model.
An asymmetrical heart encrusted in smoky gray diamonds, red crystals and pearl teardrop cabochons, the spectacular piece – 12 centimeters high and 8 centimeters wide – the jewel was more than just a good-luck charm. It became a talisman, so dear to M. Saint Laurent that unlike other pieces of jewellery designed for his collections, he kept the CŒUR fétiche in his own apartment on the Rue de Babylone.
THE BOTTLE
Sleek, sharp, sensorial, every detail of the CŒUR bottle whispers Yves Saint Laurent. From the architectural purity of its angled cut to the luxurious reflections on the glass, it is the epitome of the YSL style. The precious cap and textured label are elevated by the emblematic grain de poudre crafted in Yves Saint Laurent’s favorite color: black, expressing the daring character of the YSL spirit.
Encapsulated in this sleek bottle, the sultry red colored juice echoes the ruby-like amber that was chosen as the main accord of this masterpiece. The hue of passion was also one of M. Saint Laurent’s fetish colors. For him, red was the supreme weapon of seduction. The color of a kiss. And, today, the color of a fetish scent for a fetish heart. The pure, pulsing core of l’esprit YSL, by Le Vestiaire des Parfums.
