Premium Belgian chocolatier Godiva will invite consumers to embark on a journey of discovery with Wonderful City Dreams, a new collection of chocolate pieces created by its five Chef Chocolatiers to honour the cities in which they live, which will be previewed at TFWA World Exhibition (F33 Yellow Village) in Cannes.

“Wonderfully complex and multi-layered, cities are where tradition meets modernity, where the individual is free to grow, and where dreams can come true.”

The Wonderful City Dreams 18-piece collection is an international culinary journey of chocolate pleasure, inspired by the cosmopolitan buzz of the five most famous cities in the world and interpreted by Godiva’s expert Chef Chocolatiers.

To represent Tokyo, Chef Yannick Chevolleau has created a complex caramel, orange and Yuzu milk chocolate ganache, which is slightly sour, and decorated it with an illustration of Japan’s iconic parliament building.

Chef Thierry Muret has chosen a slice of caramel cheesecake to represent New York – a smooth cheesecake mousse with a little crumble in a blond chocolate couverture and with heavy caramel notes – and decorated it with a graphic representing the Statue of Liberty.

On the other side of the world, Chef Philippe Daue has created a pure white chocolate ganache with lychee and roasted hazelnut nibs to represent Shanghai.

Chef Jean Apostolou has selected the iconic red double-decker bus as the decoration for his white chocolate piece filled with a strawberry and violet ganache which represents London’s eclectic mix of the traditional and the modern.

Finally to Brussels, the centre of Godiva’s world, where Chef Ilse Wilmots has reinterpreted the classic Godiva heart in dark chocolate filled with a robust caramel-flavoured hazelnut praliné ganache, refined with crunchy Bresilienne caramelised nuts. The pure chocolate and the wonderfully light praline, for which Godiva has been famous since the company was founded, represent the essence of Belgian chocolate craftsmanship, a country which has been associated with fine chocolate for centuries.

For the Wonderful City Dreams collection, Godiva collaborated with Pénélope Bagieu, a renowned French illustrator and comic artist, who has created a colourful skyline of famous global landmarks for the gift box. The packaging also bears the legend ‘Treat Yourself Wonderful’, the brand platform for the whole Godiva collection in the coming year.

Wonderful City Dreams will appear in store from March 2018.

In addition, the elegant Godiva Coeur Iconique limited edition will be unveiled in Cannes, which has been designed to appeal to millennials with its trendy marbled swirl and its bright colours of red and blue.

Inside nestle six classic Godiva hearts: Coeur Lait, delicious milk chocolate with its signature hazelnut praline; Coeur Blanc, a harmonious balance of ground caramelized hazelnuts whisked into a creamy centre in white chocolate; Coeur Noir, dark chocolate filled with an intense 70% dark chocolate ganache from Papua New Guinea.

Priced to be accessible to all as a small gift or token of appreciation, the ever-popular Coeur Iconique is certain to be a best-seller in travel retail in 2018.
