Ballantine’s taps Seoul’s sights and sounds for Korean airport exclusive whisky

Ballantine’s, the No. 2 Scotch whisky in the world, has transformed its iconic 17 Year Old expression into a stunning interpretation inspired by South Korea’s bustling capital. Launching exclusively in the country’s airports in June.

Created by Ballantine’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, the exquisite new whisky echoes Hyslop’s experience of the vibrancy of Seoul, while nodding to the original and iconic Ballantine’s 17 Year Old. With signature honeyed sweetness and indulgent vanilla flavours that contrast beautifully with a layer of fresh, effervescent citrus and subtle spice, the Seoul Limited Edition is an elegant and delicate expression designed to offer Ballantine’s fans a fresh perspective of the blend.

Rising South Korean artist Jieun Park was commissioned to craft an exquisite work of art for the bottle’s design. Responding to the complex and multi-layered expression, Jieun used bold calligraphic strokes and intricate colourful painting to depict the vivid landscape of her home city.

To entice travellers to seek out the whisky, Ballantine’s will bring the new launch to life across Facebook, Naver and Korean app, Syrup. Those visiting the dedicated microsite,, can discover how to claim two exclusive Speyside tasting glasses with each purchase they make in-store. Throughout the months of June and July, travellers to Seoul Incheon will also have access to a talented in-store calligrapher, creating bespoke and personalised messages to accompany the purchase of the new release.
