The Bottega Prosecco Bar launched at “Guglielmo Marconi” airport in Bologna, Italy, marks the 18th opening of the successful format, five years after its debut.
Sandro Bottega, owner and Managing Director of Bottega, the Italian winery and distillery that conceived the concept, comments: “Bologna airport is the international gateway for tourists heading to Bologna and all the towns that compose the food excellence and culture mosaic of Central Italy. We are happy to offer our wines and our culinary tradition, made of simplicity, genuineness and taste, in this airport. The venue reflects the core values of Bottega and aims to enhance the reputation of Italy in the oenological and gastronomic fields: we are very grateful to Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna Spa for believing in the project and supporting its development.”
Nicola Gualandi, Retail & Advertising Business Development at Aeroporto di Bologna, adds: “Aeroporto di Bologna has been committed for years in pursuing a distinctive, premium quality eno-gastronomic proposal, inspired by the iconic products of Italy. We are therefore pleased to welcome, within our commercial offer, Bottega Prosecco Bar: a format which represents a further and important implementation of the company business strategy”.
Deeply rooted in the Italian tradition of fine wine and food, Bottega Prosecco Bar offers a broad selection of drinks, along with traditional specialties, to be enjoyed all day in a relaxed environment. The concept was created to deliver the experience of good wine, genuine food and convivial Italian lifestyle, all over the world and in different contexts, from airports to resorts and shopping centres. The collaboration of sommeliers, chefs, architects and designers has shaped this idea, originally inspired by the philosophy of the Venetian “Bacaro”: an informal tavern, where food is mainly presented as “cicheti”, traditional food bites to be consumed at the counter. In a welcoming yet elegant ambiance, travellers can enjoy the “Perfect Match”, the ideal combination of simple Italian plates, made with authentic Mediterranean ingredients, along with a glass of Prosecco, or another wine from the wide Bottega range.
This opening follows the launch of the Bottega Prosecco Bar in the T3 area of the Rome Fiumicino (April 2019): the restaurant proved so successful – it is recording a double digit growth compared to the previous venue – that extra space had to be added, bringing seats capability up to 150. This confirms that the brand Bottega is recognised globally, as a producer of wines and spirits, and as a symbol of the “Italian Lifestyle”.
The Bottega Prosecco Bar format debuted in 2014 on-board the MS Viking Line “Cinderella” cruise ship; existing venues include Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa Airport; Burgas and Varna airports (Bulgaria); Birmingham Airport, honoured with the “Airport Bar of the Year” award at the Drinks International Travel Retail Awards 2018; and more concept variations (lounges, beach bars, terraces and wine bars) located from Seoul to Seychelles, Gibraltar to Oman, Tanzania to Abu Dhabi. Four more venues are announced to open in 2019, in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Malaysia, plus a pop up bar on-board Amorella cruise ship.
