A naughty new edition of Jean Paul Gaultier’s most recent blockbuster fragrance has launched in duty-free – Scandal By Night…
Scandal By Night will be the first flanker edition of the Scandal perfume from designer Jean Paul Gaultier. The original Scandal fragrance was a gourmand chypre scent based on the note of honey. While Scandal was described as a free-spirited fragrance, the new edition is described as ultimately unbridled.
“Scandal was the official life, and Scandal By Night is the non-official life of ‘Madame La Ministre,’” said Thomas James, general manager of Jean Paul Gaultier, referring to the protagonist in the advertising campaign for the original scent out last summer. She’s a government minister who parties all night in Paris’ Pigalle neighborhood then makes her way directly into the office.
“This is a night experience,” continued Vincent Thilloy, senior vice president of prestige designer and alternative brands at Puig, Jean Paul Gaultier’s owner.
“What I instantly liked about Madame La Ministre is how she loves to cause a scandal. If a snatched photo reveals what a party animal she is, she won’t deny it or go into fits of rage… more likely fits of laughter!” – JEAN PAUL GAULTIER
The new composition is made as a blend of a white flower bouquet, intense and gourmand notes of honey, and patchouli and woods in the base. Tuberose plays its part while the new caramelised tonka beans develop in the background, giving a new dimension to the base of the perfume.
