Kim Jones has fused the formal and with the casual at Louis Vuitton since joining the maison five years ago, and with that, his love for vintage denim. Now, he brings greater attention to this industrious wardrobe staple with a brand new Denim Collection, and a limited edition Heritage Denim Capsule; both lines stitched together with Louis Vuitton’s historic savoir faire and influenced by the brand’s iconic trunks and design motifs.
The Denim Collection
Meticulously sourced from the best Japanese and European mills, the new permanent Denim Collection is available in three fits — the classic regular fit, slim classic fit, and slim stretch fit. The stamp of the Italian maison resides in the LV embroidery on the front pocket, signature metallic rivets and snaps, and yellow topstitching on the inside of the belt. Available in a range of washes and finishes (including dry denim that will develop a personalised patina over time), the classic denims will sport a monogram canvas label while the seasonal denims have an embossed leather patch.
The Heritage Denim Capsule
Inspired by the heart of the house, and sitting alongside the new Denim Collection, the Heritage Denim Capsule features a total of five styles — Selvedge Jeans, Brut Denim, Washed Jeans, Silver Denim and Gold Denim — available in six select stores worldwide. This premium line is inspired by archival trunks and showcases iconic LV motifs. Look out for details such as metal or leather corners, rivets in rose gold and palladium, and buttons with horn inlays.
Carrying the varied characteristics unique to their style, the combination of Japanese blends and weaves with European flair, will have any self-respecting denim buff’s heart aflutter. In fact, three out of the five jeans — the brut denim with croc details, the silver denim and the gold denim — will be limited edition, making this capsule collection all the more covetable.
