Highland based distillers Tomatin are off to a flying start with their travel retail range having secured their first listing with IDF-Belgium at Brussels airport.
According to the distillery, since the launch last month they have seen a promising increase in sales despite facing some stiff competition from big name competitors. The brand is rolling out the range in Europe then will focus on the USA followed by Asia over the next few years.
Stephen Bremner, Tomatin Sales Director commented:
‘It’s really encouraging to see such a positive response to the travel retail range. In this competitive market, we need to stand out from the crowd and our new packaging has enabled us to do this. Our focus on age statements also provides a point of difference compared to the majority of Scotch brands that have chosen to concentrate on non-age statements in their travel retail offerings.
Hans Darmont, Purchasing Manager IDF-Belgium said :
‘We are delighted with the sales since the launch of the range in Brussels airport. In only a short space of time, Tomatin have established themselves as a quality malt within the travel retail sector. We expect to see a continued increase in sales and brand awareness over the coming year as more and more globe-trotters are exposed to this unique and premium brand.’
The distillery have also employed the services of Rudy Leentjes, the owner of Rumesco Agencies, an experienced travel retail company, to roll out the product across the world. Rudy commented:
‘Tomatin Distillery have shown great dedication and insight with their Travel Retail range, based on quality & recognition, using domestic packaging elements while maintaining specific requirements for the Travel Retail channel. I am convinced this will be the basis of success for this range when more retailers will feature it during the upcoming listing windows.’
