Fashion chain Zara has just inaugurated a huge new store at Milan’s Malpensa airport. With over 700sqm of space its the retailer’s largest airport store in Europe.
With its bright interior and contemporary design, the Zara store will offer passengers a spacious 700sqm in which to make the most of the wait for their flight with an unmissable shopping break.
Zara is part of the Inditex Group, the global fashion retail giant comprising eight brands and over 7,000 stores in 91 different countries. In 2015, it recorded net sales of over €13bn.
After the success of the Piazza del Lusso, an 8,000m2 space featuring some of the most prestigious brands from Italy and around the world, Milan Malpensa is further investing in its offering with the Piazza del Pop, where the new Zara store is located. The opening enhances the services on offer for Schengen passengers, although the store will also be able to target passengers on long-haul and intercontinental flights.
The new Zara store represents another important part of Milan Malpensa Terminal 1’s commercial development strategy. Midway through 2013, SEA decided to do away with the division of Schengen and non-Schengen passengers in favour of merging passenger flows in one shopping area, where stores are grouped into Piazzas featuring an array of brands ranging from luxury through to fast fashion.
As part of the enhancement of the terminal’s commercial offering, new Benetton, Bottega Verde, Bluespirit, Morellato, Bullfrog and Womo stores will open their doors between now and the midway point of next year. In addition to this, the strong focus on food services is set to continue with the launch of some of the leading Italian and international brands.
