Who’s that girl? Who’s the girl looking straight into the camera in the new Coccinelle FW 2024 campaign #CapturingBeauty?

Behati Prinsloo, 36-year-old international top model, born in Namibia and who has made Los Angeles her home. Discovered in a grocery store in Cape Town while on holiday with her maternal grandparents, she became one of the most beloved Angels in the history. She can grace the coolest runways, rock out at a concert with her best friends, or simply enjoy being a mum to her three children – she has two girls and a boy.

Being REAL, truly herself, always and in any circumstance: this is Behati’s winning trait. This authenticity inspired Giampaolo Sgura’s lens and Anna Dello Russo’s styling, the established artistic duo who are now leading their sixth creative direction for Coccinelle in the FW24 #CapturingBeauty campaign, which focus on the American cut shots, in vivid colors, to emphasize the immediacy and freshness of the photos. Behati, with her long, wild, windswept hair and natural makeup, appears direct and never suggestive, sometimes smiling, always spontaneous.

Her all-black looks and tattoos that peek out from the rolled-up sleeve of her denim shirt are the perfect canvas to showcase the three it bags that capture the Punk Academia theme, the common thread of the Coccinelle collection. This theme embodies a desire to subvert the rules with a gentle, understated rebellion.

The spotlight is on the Campus, a new messenger bag also available in a mini size; the Dew, curvy, sophisticated, and versatile; and the iconic Beat, featuring its unmistakable plectrum clasp, now also in a mini version.

Nonconformity, simplicity, and self-expression, core values of Coccinelle, are also reflected in the materials and colours of the featured bags: soft, aged vintage leather; smooth, extra-shiny calfskin; striking contrasts of black, metal, and leather; and the contemporary femininity of college blue and California pink.

Sgura and Dello Russo have crafted a deeply emotional vision for the social media and web campaigns. Using a cinematic technique that blends black & white with natural colour, they created a “behind the scenes” atmosphere that captures the playful, effortless, and spontaneous interaction between Behati Prinsloo, the Coccinelle it bags, and a distinctive element of the Punk Academia mood: the tassel loafers with their “rebellious” bicolor layered soles.

Shot last May in Milan at Studio 54, the campaign will be launched worldwide on September 2nd.
