DFS group has unveiled Remy Martin Carte Blanche a Baptiste Loiseau in an exclusive launch at Singapore’s Changi airport.
Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail, in partnership with DFS Group, has presented the world première of the ‘Carte Blanche à Baptiste Loiseau’, the first in a new collection of limited edition Fine Champagne Cognac from the House of Rémy Martin, available exclusively at DFS, Singapore Changi Airport.
Baptiste Loiseau is the gifted Cellar Master of the House of Rémy Martin, who was appointed in 2014 at the age of just 34. During the years he spent perfecting his craft alongside his predecessor Pierrette Trichet, he tasted every eau-de-vie that had been set aside by previous cellar masters for their exceptional ageing potential. Gradually he learnt to identify and cherish the treasures of the House.
Now the Cellar Master of Rémy Martin, Loiseau has been granted “carte blanche” to reveal to the world his personal selection from these treasures.
Loiseau chose to dedicate his first Carte Blanche edition to a very special blend that is characteristic of Rémy Martin. One particular cask from the Gensac-la-Pallue cellar truly embodied the spirit of the House, revealing harmonious notes of lilac and spicy notes of nutmeg. The remarkable long finish, with intense aromas of leather, incense and black tea, has given life to this powerful and refined cognac.
These eaux-de-vie were bottled at the percentage proof occurring naturally in their cask to preserve their original attributes and to create a cognac of exceptional aromatic strength and finesse, the embodiment of the house style of Rémy Martin Fine Champagne Cognac.
Rémy Martin only uses grapes from the most sought-after growing regions, or crus – the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, together called the Fine Champagne. These crus are characterised by exceptionally chalky soil, which retains water, reflects light and ripens the grapes to absolute perfection.
These subtleties in flavour are recognised by French law. Fine Champagne Cognac, made exclusively from eaux-de-vie of the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne, is the only blend of two crus protected by the AOC, the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée.
Rémy Martin Limited Edition Carte Blanche n°1 is presented in the traditional yet contemporary “Charentes” bottle and encased in an elegant coffret that assures its position among the premium craft spirits.
Just 7,000 numbered bottles of Carte Blanche n°1 have been created and are available exclusively at DFS, Singapore Changi Airport, from 15 April at a recommended price of US$400.
From 1 June, Carte Blanche n°1 will be rolled out in DFS stores at Hong Kong International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and San Francisco International Airport, where it will remain exclusive to DFS until the end of October when distribution will be extended to selected domestic markets.
DFS Group Senior Vice President Wines, Spirits and Tobacco Brooke Supernaw commented, “DFS has a long history of cultivating and curating exceptional products, so we were thrilled to partner with Rémy Cointreau to bring our customers first access to the extraordinary Rémy Martin Carte Blanche à Baptiste Loiseau. Baptiste Loiseau’s dedication to creating a unique blend of the best eaux-de-vie of the House of Rémy Martin has led to a cognac steeped in heritage that is sure to delight. We look forward to introducing visitors to our DFS stores in Asia and North America over the next six months to this new expression and are confident it will not disappoint.”
Peter Sant, Managing Director, Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail, added, “Rémy Martin is one of the best-loved brands of Cognac in the world and has over many generations established an enthusiastic fan base, particularly in Asia. Today’s consumers value heritage, tradition and authenticity, as did their forebears, but they covet also the new, the unusual, the exclusive. We are excited to work with DFS on the exclusive launch of this special limited edition, Carte Blanche n°1, the first expression from our new Cellar Master at the House of Remy Martin, Baptiste Loiseau.”
