The famous Speyside distillery of Macallan has announced the oldest expression yet for its Double Cask range – the Macallan Double Cask 30 years old.
The new whisky has seen maturation for three decades in sherry seasoned American and European oak casks. These have then been married together by Kirsteen Campbell, the Master Whisky Maker at Macallan.
The Macallan Double Cask 30 years old is bottled at 43% ABV and is presented in an oak casket. It will be available from specialist whisky and luxury retailers, plus Macallan Boutiques globally. Each bottle will cost £3,000/ $4,000 US.
“Double Cask 30 Years Old is a charming combination of cinder toffee, honeycomb, vanilla and red apples – and I wanted to depict the vibrant colours and varying textures of these luscious flavours in the image, reminiscent of the great Flemish still life paintings from the 17th century.”

INSPIRED BY FLAVOUR
Acclaimed photographer and artist Erik Madigan Heck was inspired by nature and the landscape of The Macallan Estate when capturing the complex flavour of The Macallan Double Cask 30 Years Old.
The whisky itself is a rich and luxurious medley of flavour, and Erik Madigan Heck used natural light to capture this depth of character in his still life. The reflective surface enhances the idea of flavours blending– almost as if seamlessly merging together as one – with the soft focus echoing the long-lasting taste experience.
The whisky’s golden acorn natural colour is the focal point of the shot. Its rich tone and translucent glow has influenced the colour palette of the piece as a whole, with the soft caramels and browns and pops of red and green once more showcasing the depth of its flavour profile.
SWEET OAK. SOFT SPICE. TOFFEE.
A perfectly balanced single malt matured for 30 years in sherry seasoned American and European oak casks. The Double Cask range tells the story of an incredible wood journey, from the vast green forests of northern Spain and the French Pyrenees and the lush forests of Ohio, Missouri and Kentucky, to create the perfect harmony.
This release showcases our unwavering commitment to uncompromised excellence as oak influence is the single greatest contributor to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours of our single malt whiskies.
